Blog Facts: Note the Indian Blogosphere!

Well, here I’m putting up some facts about blogging worldwide. Do note the number of bloggers in India. Along with Age Category and Gender.

To begin with, let's start with why you need a blog or micro-blog?

1) you need a blog to share your content

2) you need a blog so that you can control your content

3) you want to get an online space for free

Blogging is very similar to writing articles for a newspaper. A person running a successful blog attains the same status as that of a famous newspaper as the demand for the person will increase. Whats more?

News gets delivered to your mail box!
Blogging is democratizing communication. If newspaper needed all the manpower to get news and put it in one place. Web is a place where each individual writes his/her own article and shares the same. Imagine the interactivity in communication.

Micro-Blog like Twitter, Google Buzz and Friend Feed... take blogging to the next level. They give the power of blogging to a wider audience who do not have the time to write articles. Hence Micro-Blogs are one line descriptive messages for the things happening around them. Now imagine a scenario.

You want to know the news about India. What you can do is follow people from different locations of India who Tweet. http://Tweeple.in is a brilliant site to find people from various locations. Add these people and there you are following the people around India. Knowing what’s happening around them. Incidents, Accidents, News, Gossip. More over if one is really looking for news one can even follow news channels!

What’s the process?

Blogs don’t get advertised by themselves. One who starts a blog needs to tell people that he has started one. A Blog is like a product manufactured by you but is not sold until you sell it. So how does one sell blogs?

Earlier you had word of mouth; now in fact from the past 2500 days you have the word of mouse that is much faster than the word of mouth. Still you need the offline media to support your existence online as in India the online penetration is still at 5%, even though it’s been the fastest growing media.

So the question: Do you need a blog? Yes you definitely do! Here are some facts. Now you might notice the category that blog are middle aged, so here is the reason: The Younger generation is resorting more time on Social Networks than the traditional blogs cause Social Networks have a larger interactivity base, a lot of can do’s and much more. Blog’s however are still around as social networks do not provide much enthusiasm of the article presence nor they end up in search results. The only advantage of blogs over social networks is that they can end up on search engines!

Enjoy the facts
